This innovative patented cell block design was developed to significantly reduce space requirements and the possibility of internal leaks, while at the same time, improve response and recovery times. The Eliminator Cell Block™ delivers the industry’s fastest and most efficient gas path and provides users with front panel sensor access for quick and easy sensor replacement. Upon examining an Eliminator Cell Block™, you will find that all sample handling components (Flow Meter, Metering Valve and a 3-way Sample/Span/Off Selection Valve) are integrated into a solid metallic block, consisting of internal drilled gas passages and an incredibly gas-efficient sensor pocket. Our design is a strong and positive departure from the conventional sample system.
Other sample systems or cell blocks require endless lengths of stainless steel tubing, fastened by ‘off-the-shelf’ compression fittings, to connect different sample handling components. The components include items such as the flow meter, metering valve and 3-way calibration valve; and all of which exist as separate standalone parts. The resulting sample system, once put together, has inefficient lengthy gas paths with slow response times and multiple points where leak paths could develop.
Leak-proof Design delivers the Most Reliable Gas Measurements
A poorly designed sample system can produce leaks, inaccurate measurements and slow response times. Even a microscopic leak path will result in O2 entering the sample system and diminishing the analyzer’s accuracy and reliability. Because of the need to use so much stainless steel tubing and numerous compression fittings, traditional sample systems and cell blocks are exposed to greater risk for leak paths to develop, especially at the points where the sample handling components are connected. Our Eliminator Cell Block™ virtually eliminates having to use traditional ‘off-the-shelf’ components and, moreover, decreases the number of points fastened by compression fittings. This not only results in near zero possibility of internal leakage but also provides fast, reliable measurement performance.

Our R&D Team developed Bullet Sensor Technology™ when AMI decided to embark on manufacturing our own line of oxygen sensors. At a time when sensors were considered commodity products with no differentiation from brand to brand, AMI felt that our customers should be provided with a solution that would greatly increase sensor reliability, provide faster response times and extend sensor life. While most traditional designs consist of a Teflon membrane, silver cathode and lead anode, all immersed in an acid or alkaline electrolyte, Bullet Sensor Technology™ introduces a new IP-protected construction design with proprietary electrolyte that is available only on our T Series and our P Series oxygen sensors. Our patented technology confers several distinct advantages that make our oxygen sensors superior to other offerings on the market.
Superior Construction results in Greater Reliability
The production process of any oxygen sensor should include a step to completely seal the sensor and prevent leakage. Most manufacturers of oxygen sensors utilize heat-sealing techniques to bind plastics of different thicknesses in an attempt to accomplish this. Unfortunately, since the plastics used are chemically dissimilar, there is a high risk of failure over the life of the sensor. And any compromise to the seal can inadvertently cause the sensor to produce considerable ‘noise’ when measuring gas sample. To avoid this vulnerability, Bullet Sensor Technology™ employs special O-ring designs to significantly bolster the strength and quality of the seals around the metallic sensor body. This innovative approach creates a tighter seal and provides structural strength that extends the useful life of the sensor and provides greater performance, accuracy and reliability.
Optimized Design provides Faster Response Times
During the development of Bullet Sensor Technology™, AMI invested an enormous amount of time studying the conventional design to determine whether unique modifications could be made to boost the performance of the oxygen sensor. We examined everything from the Teflon membrane to the chemistry of the electrolyte and media. Our final design changes were collectively filed for patent protection and are now marketed as Bullet Sensor Technology™. This incredible technology enables our T Series and P Series oxygen sensors to achieve faster response times than other sensors found elsewhere on the market.
Proprietary Electrolyte & Media provide Resistance to Trace Amounts of H2S
Oxygen sensors, manufactured by AMI with Bullet Sensor Technology™, are the only ones on the market, having trace resistance to H2S. As an active gas, H2S will attack the electrolyte that is contained inside most oxygen sensors and diminish its useful life. That is why the development of Bullet Sensor Technology™ included a breakthrough electrolyte formulation to counteract the activity of this corrosive gas. Customers wanting H2S resistance can look to our T-2 sensor for protection up to 10ppm and our T-4 and P-5 sensors for up to 500ppm.
Customers encounter different requirements for their application and frequently ask manufacturers for additional features and capabilities beyond what comes standard on their analyzer.
The features and functions of most analyzers can be accessed through using the front panel interface. Customers only need to manipulate the buttons manually to operate the functions or adjust the settings. But unbeknownst to most users, though this design, setup and interface are sufficient for current functions already on the analyzer, they collectively limit new functionalities from being added to the unit. Adding a new functionality may require modifying the front panel, adding a new screen, inserting more buttons or providing a new interface – doing any of which can disrupt the current workflow logic or require making changes to the design of the analyzer.
Manufacturers that do succeed in offering additional capabilities on their models generally require customers to pay a higher price on build-to-order units for each additional function.
In developing a solution that could satisfy the needs of so many customers, AMI understood that we could not afford to include some features and functionalities while leaving out others. Our customers also did not want us to change the simple workflow logic and panel layout that they have become so accustomed to on our user interface, especially since both were so intuitive and easy to learn.
Therefore, we recognized that our solution had to be software-based and that led us to create the Command Center Electronics Platform™. This advanced software innovation allowed us to develop a multitude of solutions for numerous customer needs and store every solution on our AMI gas analyzers. Our software approach furthermore freed us from having to prioritize one analyzer functionality over another, and it removed any need to change the layout of our user interface. No other company on the market has provided such an extensive list of advanced features and functionalities to customers as part of a standard offering.
